Following Sam's graduation from the University of Kent with a Bachelors of Engineering in Building Services, he was invited back to the University to lecture a new and exciting module in Thermal Modelling & BIM.
The module includes topics such as utilising IES to create a virtual environment to simulate different design options, compare low-carbon technologies, CO2 emissions, occupant comfort, light levels, airflow, Part L and EPC Ratings. Sam has also been familiarising the engineers with Revit by Autodesk (the industry recognised software package), arming all new graduates with the ability to tackle the challenges faced within today's Construction Industry.
Sam commented; “it’s been an absolute pleasure to share my experiences and knowledge with such dedicated rising engineers (young and old) who are striving to learn new and exciting ways of preparing and presenting designs through the use of software that is recognised within the industry.
I have been able to teach students the ability to create, operate and analyse results from IES; create fully coordinated 3D BIM’s utilising Revit and how to present the results to their future clients and design teams through the use of design reports. The opportunity has allowed me to develop further as a person and leader by presenting what the future of the industry holds.”
