Two Significant MEP Design Project Wins

This month sees us secure two new projects which further cements our clients confidence in our MEP design services. The projects, located at 118 – 120 Guildford Street in Chertsey and London Heathrow’s Terminal 3, MyLounge, highlight Banyards’ expertise in delivering top-quality MEP design solutions.

London Heathrow Terminal 3 – MyLounge

Project Overview:

The refurbishment of the existing Aspire Lounge will become the new My Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 3 and this will offer a sanctuary for travellers featuring various seating areas, hot and cold grazing snacks, a self-service bar, private meeting spaces and relaxed atmosphere.

Team Expertise:

Our design team, led by Michael Mmireku (Associate: Head of Design South) and supported by (Ian Fordham) Technical Director will lead design services from RIBA Stage 2 through to RIBA Stage 6. Our team all have specialist knowledge in hospitality and leisure projects and are well-prepared to collaborate with Resident Architects to deliver the expanded lounge facilities at Heathrow.

118 – 120 Guildford Street

Project Overview:

The project at 118 – 120 Guildford Street involves the transformation of a Grade II listed early 19th-century two-storey terraced building located in the centre of Chertsey’s retail area. The building, which was most recently occupied by Halifax Bank, has been vacant for approximately a year, leading to significant deterioration. The planned development includes the construction of an additional floor, internal renovations to provide five two-bedroom flats with rear balconies, and the retention of a commercial space on the ground floor.

Design services:

Banyards will provide comprehensive building services design and advice throughout the design and construction phases.

This includes:

  • Utilities: Ensuring sufficient capacity and supply for all services.
  • Mechanical & Electrical Design: Part L compliant design for the new commercial unit and apartments, including all necessary calculations and measures to prove thermal and energy efficiency and achieve Building Control Certification.
  • Renewables: Advising on options, performance, and recommendations to meet or exceed planning standards.
  • Acoustic Design: Providing appropriate consultant advice as required.

Team Expertise:

Our design team, led by Discipline Leads Michael Mmireku (Electrical) and Paul Cairns (Mechanical), and supported by Ian Fordham (Technical Director), bring extensive experience in residential projects. The team are well-placed to deliver exceptional results for this development alongside Weyside Architects.

These projects highlight Banyards’ dedication to providing MEP design solutions across various sectors and we are very much looking forward to contributing our expertise and experience to these developments.
