The impressive conservation and restoration of the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room and Hayward Gallery gives these democratic buildings a new lease of life for the 21st Century.
The project included installing a new multiple pyramid-profiled, glazed roofing system to the Hayward and Purcell buildings. The Queen Elizabeth Hall and Purcell Room auditoria have been refurbished providing better access and substantial upgrading of the stages, galleries and back stage areas; to preserve the character of the venues, the walls, floors and ceilings have been renovated and existing seats retained and restored. Other features included an upgrade to the building services such as plant, heating and cooling, ventilation, lighting, water supply, and specialist stage lighting and the installation of new fire alarms, security and IT cabling.
