Last year James was lucky enough to gain a place in the 2019 London Marathon through the ballot places however on the 14th April 2019 (two weeks out from the actual run) James set out on what was to be his last long run (15 miles) prior to the big day. Two and half miles out from home, a car pulling a trailer drove past him and hit a pothole, a wheel from the trailer sheared off and hit him from behind. Thankfully nothing was broken, but he was unable to run due to his injuries however in such circumstances he was allowed to defer his place to the following year (which is what he did). This year James is fit and well and looking forward to running the 2020 London Marathon on the 26th April with a warm-up half marathon in Paddock Wood on the 5th.
James is collecting sponsorship for Macmillan Cancer Support as this is a charity close to his heart, any donations would be greatly appreciated and push him towards his goal of £500 for this wonderful charity.
Tom and a group of his friends are doing a 140 mile bike ride on 17th & 18th July for the charity St.Rocco’s Hospice in Warrington. Tom will be cycling from Whitehaven to Whitley Bay over the course of the two days in order to raise money for the charity.
Tom’s supporting St.Rocco’s as his friend’s stepfather was cared for at the hospice in his final weeks before he passed away before Christmas last year.
