The £36m redevelopment of St Bartholomew’s former pathology and residential staff quarters for Nuffield Health will create a new cardiac unit, as well as an outpatients and minor procedures department. The new 48-bed facility will also have four operating theatres and 28 consultation rooms as well as space for orthopaedic, physiotherapy, health assessments and a range of diagnostic services.
The main in-patient facilities will be housed in the Old Pathology building, and will house MRI, CT and X-Ray, Ultrasound, Cath labs and several digital laminar flow operating theatres as well as basement plant including a twin transformer substation.
The Residential Staff Quarters will house the outpatient departments, with a range of consulting rooms and diagnostic facilities including endoscopy, mammography, consulting and therapy rooms. There will also be a pharmacy and canteen / commercial kitchen facilities.
The Nuffield facility is designed to operate as a stand-alone private hospital as far as possible but will, once completed, share some services and supplies with the existing hospital complex.
We look forward to bringing our commissioning expertise to the Nuffield Health at St Bartholomew’s project following recent successful health projects with Kier at Great Ormond Street and Wexham Park Hospitals.
