Banyards Supports Major Redevelopment at The Mere Golf Resort & Spa as Project Commissioning Phase Completes

Banyards were involved extensively with the project and assisted with both verifying the MEP design and undertaking commissioning verification duties.

Banyards were initially appointed by the main contractor, Russell WBHO, to review the Stage 4 MEP design and then to review the Stage 5 design, which was undertaken by A&B Engineering.

Alongside ensuring the employer’s requirements were being met, we were also able to assist with design advice where necessary, based on our extensive company design experience.

Banyards were selected as the project verification engineers by the Select Group on the prestigious redevelopment of The Mere Golf Resort & Spa, which has now progressed into its key commissioning phase.

Banyards ensured all building services are correctly installed, fully commissioned, and performing to the highest standards prior to handover—a crucial responsibility on a project with such extensive hospitality, leisure, and operational requirements.

The ongoing transformation places The Mere among the North West’s most impressive luxury destinations, combining exceptional accommodation, elevated dining, expanded events capacity, and world-class sporting facilities.

The redevelopment goes beyond accommodation. The main building will feature a brand-new entrance and reception area, creating a refined and welcoming arrival experience. Upgraded kitchen facilities are also being installed to support the resort’s expanded dining and events operations.
The Conference Centre is undergoing major expansion with a new two-storey extension, increasing capacity for corporate functions, social events, and large gatherings. Meanwhile, a new Golf Pavilion will be added to enhance services for players and visitors to the celebrated 18-hole championship course.

Gordon Ramsay at The Mere

Adding to the excitement surrounding the redevelopment, multi-Michelin-starred chef and TV personality Gordon Ramsay has partnered with Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere, to launch Gordon Ramsay at The Mere. The signature Knutsford restaurant will welcome guests of the newly refurbished five-star resort, as well as diners from across the region, marking a major culinary milestone for Cheshire and further elevating The Mere’s luxury credentials.
