The headquarters of De Beers was once believed to be the home to 90% of the world’s diamonds. The building is now being re-imagined as the new corporate HQ for Anglo American plc and the De Beers Group for occupation in 2021.
The 13,200 sqm office redevelopment comprises extensions to the building providing 3,700 sqm net additional office floor space (Class B1a), including part two-storey and part five-storey extensions within the central courtyard; a single storey roof extension and the demolition of existing floor space and existing plant and equipment remodelled and replaced.
Externally the building is being remodelled through the part removal of the existing facade and replaced with a new glazed, metal and stonework facade. Access alterations include redesign of the existing pedestrian entrance and relocation of the vehicular entrance on Charterhouse Street with provision for 168 cycle parking spaces, and associated landscaping works.
At Banyards we have our own Vision, Mission and Core Values and we share the vision of Anglo American and De Beers in delivering a new vibrant development at Charterhouse Street where people can work in an energy smart, balanced and sustainable environment.
