Banyard Consultantss role in assisting Defra with their roll out programme for Voltage optimisation throughout their estate.
The department for environment food and rural affairs (Defra) have identified Voltage optimisation as a method by which they can reduce their energy bills and carbon emissions from their buildings, and estates.
Banyard Consultants are providing technical support to Defra ensuring that the voltage optimisation installations fulfil Defra’s requirements without detriment to the electrical installations within the buildings.
Our role includes ensuring that the selection of the equipment is appropriate to meet the present day and future capacity requirements, that the installation of the equipment is reversible, that electrical discrimination is maintained throughout the distribution system, and that the needs of any specific item of equipment requiring adjustment or modification to operate at the reduce voltages are identified and addressed at the time if the equipment installation.
To date we have been involved in 16 installations resulting in measured energy savings of between 8 and 16%, with a further 10 installations in planning or procurement stage.
